IADA Encouraged by Higher New Aircraft Deliveries in 2023

Bolstering Biz Aircraft Resales

WASHINGTON, Feb. 21, 2024 –The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) is heartened by higher new aircraft deliveries in 2023, announced by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). The data was presented by GAMA at its annual State of the Industry Press Conference held in Washington today.

“The across-the-board increase in deliveries, especially in the turboprop and private jet categories, is stimulating the preowned business aircraft marketplace where our dealers were very active in 2023,” said IADA Chair Phil Winters, who is VP of Aircraft Sales and Charter Management at Western Aircraft. “Nearly every owner that buys a new business aircraft has one to sell,” he added.

“Increasing new aircraft deliveries sustain a vibrant market for preowned biz aircraft and we acknowledge positive activity by the eight new aircraft manufacturers whose resale operations are part of our organization,” said IADA Executive Director Wayne Starling. “We embrace the new aircraft that are being pumped into our industry fleets as the entire marketplace makes strides to balance supply and demand.”

Starling noted that IADA's dealers consist of the top 17 percent of the world's experts who handle 50 percent of used business aircraft sales. IADA-Accredited dealers buy and sell more aircraft by dollar volume than the rest of the world’s dealers combined.

IADA supports recent GAMA initiatives including efforts to advance reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration. IADA is also supportive of GAMA’s work to boost the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, which signals a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability in aviation.
