$100,000 Business Aviation Scholarship Drive Set for NBAA 2016
September 14, 2016 -- The National Aircraft Resale Association (NARA) has announced the launch of its NARA ScholarShave fundraiser event to raise $100,000 for its Business Aviation Scholarship fund. The culmination of this scholarship campaign will be the shaving of the head and beard of Johnny Foster, Chairman of NARA, President and CEO of OGARA JETS, at this year’s NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition on November 1st at the NARA Chalet in Static Display area
Johnny Foster explains the NARA ScholarShave vision, “I continue to hear people say that we need to attract more young people to our industry but actually, I believe there are thousands of young adults who are eager for jobs in the broad spectrum of business aviation fields, if only they could afford the college education necessary to give them the tools they need. The NARA Business Aviation Scholarship was established to help these enterprising students get past the significant hurdle of college tuition therefore, I will step up into the barber chair at NBAA and endure a full shave of my head and beard to help make this happen for more students.”
“The ScholarShave started out as a joke earlier this year at our annual meeting when the evening auction of donated items suddenly turned into how much would members donate for me to shave off my full beard,” Foster added. “Then one of our members, said he would donate $10,000, if I would shave my head as well as my beard. That is when I realized we might have something special here and now it has become a full-fledged fundraiser for a great cause to raise money for the NARA Business Aviation scholarship fund.”
The NARA Business Aviation Scholarship program was established for university students seeking a career in Business Aviation and, specifically, within the corporate aircraft Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Insurance community. The scholarship winners are chosen from applicants that are full-time graduate and under-graduate students majoring in Corporate Aviation Management, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Systems, Aviation Safety, Finance, Business Marketing, Economics and/or studies that relate to Aviation Business and Management.
NARA is encouraging all its Dealers, Brokers, Product & Services members, as well as the entire business aviation community to make donations to help them reach their goal. They have also produced a video, starring Johnny Foster as the Most Interesting Man in Aviation to kick off the fundraising efforts. Anyone interested in donating to this worthy cause and viewing the engaging video may do so by visiting www.NARAaircraft.com/scholarship. Also, a NARA Press Conference will precede the actual ScholarShave event on Tuesday, November 1st at 1:00 PM, at the NARA Chalet located at the NBAA Static Display at Orlando Executive Airport (KORL).
