National Aircraft Resale Association’s Annual Scholarship Fund Triples, Record-Breaking 10 Students Awarded

January 9, 2017 -- The National Aircraft Resale Association (NARA) Business Aviation Scholarship program has announced the award of $50,000 in scholarships to 10 exceptional students. NARA formalized the scholarship awards program in 2014 with donated funds coming from the Brokers/Dealers and Products and Services members. In 2016, the NARA fundraising efforts excelled with an end of the year tally of $80,000 pledged for the fund with the purpose of growing the future of business aviation professionals.

“This year was quite eventful as we really took the NARA Scholarship program to the next level,” commented Anthony “Tony” Kioussis, President of Asset Insight, Inc. and Chairman of the NARA scholarship committee. “Tripling our funds allows us to expand our reach to help more students than ever before. We are proud to support these ten very deserving aviation students that were selected as a testament to NARA’s commitment to investing in future leaders of our aviation industry.”

The ten 2016 scholarship winners include five graduate students: Wendylie Alix, Jessyka Alexander, Paul David Speer, Jr., Travis Russell, and Tyler Edward Jennings, all attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; and undergraduates Renee Di Giovanni and Megan Peterson, also from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Sheppard Stutts and Rodger Advincula, Jr. from Louisiana Tech University, and Patrick Ekhals who attends Auburn University.

Johnny Foster, NARA Chairman, and President & CEO of OGARAJETS commented, “Congratulations to these ten outstanding students on behalf of all the NARA members. I also want to extend a special thank you to all who contributed to our scholarship fund this year, members and non-members alike. I am especially proud that our efforts and support have now grown beyond just our membership and a much broader audience is recognizing the need to support this next generation of business aviation professionals.”

The NARA Business Aviation Scholarship program was established for university students seeking a career in Business Aviation and, specifically, within the corporate aircraft Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Insurance community. The scholarship winners are chosen from applicants that are full-time graduate and undergraduate students majoring in Corporate Aviation Management, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Systems, Aviation Safety, Finance, Business Marketing, Economics and studies that relate to Aviation Business and Management.
